What music is good to listen to while studying? What kind of music gets you into that zone of concentration where you tune out everything else and just focus on what you are doing?

Please, list specific songs, genres, and artists. I am looking for music to get because where I normally study is quite noisy and I want something to tune out the noise and help me focus. Thanks in advance!

Personally I can only really listen to music with no words in when studying (b/c I get distracted listening to the lyrics LOL) which usually means something like classical, which personally, I don't really find all that enjoyable

But (this actually relates to Lost lol) the Lost soundtracks are good for working to and I also found quite a few artists that are great too from Evangeline Lilly's playlist on itunes, they're instrumental but enjoyable Some have like, a few lyrics but nothing thats too distracting. Some are; Gonzales, Yann Tiersen, Saltillo, Portishead and Beirut Hope it helps, I'm not all that up on my music but its just from my personal experience

For me when I'm studing I'm the opposite to Emma, it has to be something I like but with lyrics what I find is normally putting my ipod on the 25 most played playlist or create one of your fave songs but nothing to heavy works quite well

Amelie soundtrack. Can't ever go wrong with it

It's all instrumental, except for maybe two songs, but it just awesome, very calming music. Never fails to chill me out when I listen to it

I like easy, mellow, kind of music. Something like Damien Rice (SOMETIMES. Sometimes, I just get so distracted by his beautiful lyrics and song though!), or Yann Tiersen like Emma said. Classical music is really wonderful too because there's no words so it's easier to concentrate. My particularly favorite classical pieces right now are:

Beethoven - Symphony 7; Movement 2 as heard in the trailer for "The Fall" (yes, I'm plugging a favorite movie of mine that no one's ever seen/heard of before! ) and...

Chopin - Etude in E

OMG, I LOVE the Amelié OST. My favorite is "La Noyee" which just makes me feel as if I'm in a world of magic. Just gorgeous stuff!

I love it too...so much that, that is what was playing (Comptine d'un autre été, l'après-midi)
at my wedding when I was walking down the isle.

Hotclub jazz. Django Reinhardt and I are BFFs. I also like Early Modern madrigals--Orlando diLasso's a particular favorite, but Morley, Weelkes, and so forth are good as well. (Not a particular fan of Byrd, mainly because I know too much about his politics.)

I just looked up that Mozart effect. That's pretty cool. I'll have to remember that next time I'm studying chemistry

I would say Imogen Heap.

I got her latest album, Ellipse, for Xmas and I love the whole thing.
The music's really relaxing, and it helps me concentrate and inspires me to actually get my work done!!

In particular the songs "the fire", "little bird", "half life" & "canvas".
