lol, I'm not the only one who noticed, apparently.
Even Terry himself has noticed:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23281666/
Quote: | AP: You’ve said you found Locke’s button-pushing phase in the hatch frustrating. What’s it like playing the character now?
O’Quinn: I like the present situation somewhat more. Although in the next few episodes people are about to see he sort of stalls again. But he has this — it seems to be his pattern. He finds something, it activates him, he goes until he hits a roadblock and he stalls and he waits for something to happen, he gets frustrated, he gets angry and then something happens and he runs along for a while. They’ve always kept it interesting — well, sometimes not, sometimes frustrating — but that’s what happens with the character. |
It's true. And I think it's because the writers don't want Locke moving the plot too quickly . But at least I can take solace in the fact Terry, the master himself, gets annoyed by it too.
This is fascinating:
Quote: | AP: You’ve had other disagreements with the writers.
O’Quinn: At the end of season three Locke throws a knife into Naomi’s back and I said, ‘This really hurts me, it’s so not typical and it’s so out of character and it seemed gratuitous.’ I made the biggest stink I ever made with (executive producers) Damon Lindelhof and Carlton Cuse and they said, ‘Look, Locke believes he was doing the right thing. His life was saved, he’s been told, he’s been instructed. He believes that this is the most dangerous person in the world right now and he does what he does. Do it.’ I said, ’Well, you know, if I stab her in the back couldn’t I at least shoot Jack in the knee or something?’ |
I am so proud of Terry. YES, that is so NOT what Locke would normally do! That was a completely out of character thing for Locke to do! That's what I said!
But at least... they knew it was. At least they knew that it was a big step and a big change in his character. It was important, at any rate. OR, they just thought it was worth it in order to manipulate the plot so strongly .
Quote: | Warren! I think Locke was origionally in the coffin but now they are going to pick someone compleatly different. Hrmmmm. I like what you said about Locke and Ben being nothing off the island. Its soo true. BUT i would hate for Lockes story to end with him dead in a coffin, unless he is faking his death! |
True. It would be quite tragic. But if it was Ben, it would be the opposite - with him finally getting the death he deserves. And I like that duality, especially if we wouldn't know whether it's the good or the bad ending until the end. But I find the dramatic irony enticing. Which is why I was hoping it would be Locke or Ben. Hmmm |

I did enjoy this episode.
Just let me get it out...
Tom's gay. I knew it. But it was great to see him in this episode! I missed Tom. And Libby too! Except you saw her for about five seconds, Michael blinked, and she's gone. The whole blanket thing was a nice connection-thingy.
Widmore blames Ben, Ben blames Widmore. I am more leaning towards Widmore making up the fake plane because he's thinking, "MUHAHAHA! I shall find this island, harvest all of it's supplies, and then kill everyone! No one can find it but me! RAWR!" Ben's more like, "Wah, everyone must stay. We can have tea parties in Jacob's cabin!"
Karl died! And Danielle! With a silenced gun. I wonder who it is. Maybe some awkward tribal people who have came on the Black Rock and made the 4-toed statue. Or just Richard and the Others. But Ben totally set them up. He told Alex not to say she was his daughter and she did...
I want April 24th! _________________

I liked this episode! I mostly agree with what everyone has said. I wanted to know what happened immediately when Michael and Walt left the island too, Paul. It felt like a cheat so they didn't have to show Walt's spontaneous growth spurt Which is why that kid in the window didn't look much like Malcolm at all! O___o
I thought it was so sad when Michael kept trying to kill himself But come on, the ISLAND won't let him! LIKE WOAH. SURE.
Tom-WTF?! Am I the only one who didn't see that coming?!?!
Anywho, I liked this episode. I've missed Michael! I agree with Ash about the end though. How ridiculous. Poor Karl! And Danielle CANNOT be dead! I demand a Danielle flashback T__T Like my brother said, why kill Karl and Danielle who we've bearly seen anyway?? Srsly. So yeah, it sounds like I don't like this ep but I really didn't mind it. =p |

Yay, glad to hear you liked it, Jemma! We should all petition for a Danielle flashback. I don't think she's dead, but I think Karl really is. Poor guy with his dorky haircut and clothes....

Ahaha, well, I'm sure there were other people who didn't see it, but I think most people on here had seen it coming. Lol. _________________

Lol. And btw, I totally thought the same thing as you when Michael asked Naomi if she was from Manchester. Charlie was SO on his mind! =P |

Can I say something? Okay, lol.
I have this friend who had never watched Lost before, so I watched the first four episodes of Season One with her- AND IT COMPLETELY RESTORED MY FAITH IN LOCKE.
I remember how much I loved him! He was so cool and awesome and amazing. And I have faith in his character. He's been pissing me off lately to an extreme, but I remember how he was, and I think he can get back there. Right now he's just confused and trying to do what he thinks is the right thing.
It's also nice to know that Terry doesn't like the direction he is going in either, lol. _________________ <3 Jourdan

I used to like Locke...but he just makes me so mad I can't even go back to watch season one and like him. Kinda sad...I'm glad your faith is restored tho, Jourdan. _________________

I just...don't know what to say about this episode to be honest. Just doesn't really inspire much from me either way, apart from building up a mini cliffhanger by killing 2 people pointlessly. Ugh. Karl and Danielle who we've really not got to know because they've been ignored for the same old characters now killed rather pointlessly. Who stands up when you know the enemy clearly has you sighted, and who sits there when a bullet goes through their drink, really? Either way it was a bit lame. I'm not surprised though. I'm not shocked when anybody dies in Lost now, it's got to a point where they just seem to kill people randomly to attempt shock value and it simply doesn't deliver.
Um...well this was all about Michael, we didn't really see anyone else. Harold Perrineau is just such a damn good actor that he really put this together and carried it along, that was great, as was the fact we didn't actually have to see/hear Walt very much since he annoys me. Not being able to kill himself was interesting, finally a hint back to the Island of Mystery angle, but there wasn't much of that. Don't tell me you wouldn't have shot Tom in the back though. Bang motherfucker, who's laughing now
So Tom's gay, we suspected this over a series ago and it's true, but it doesn't really matter either way. Um Michael's trying to save people, but otherwise that's about all. Sayid turning him over to the captain as a traitor etc, well I guess that's just so he can get off the island, which as we know he does thereby negating the whole thing really *shrug*.
I just don't know what to say really. The few people we did see didn't do much, Michael was interesting but not spectacular, was all more personal stuff anyway, and other than that. _________________
