Okay, well I'm pretty sure this question has most likely been asked a dozen times before but anyway:
I've only recently started "vidding" seriously but my MovieMaker doesn't seem to co-operate with me at all. So I decided I wanted a better editing program. I've downloaded a trail version of Sony Vegas a while ago and I think it is a awesome program. However, due to budget reasons I want to buy Movie Studio.
However, the only place I'll be able to buy it is online since most stores around me don't sell it. So I've been browsing around Amazon and I just got confused. There are several different versions around there with a different price. I've seen a version 6 and 8 for Movie Studio and a +DVD Platinum version..
So my question is: Which version do any of you use and should I get?
(Because I don't want to buy any extra things I won't need anyway)
Thanks! |

I own Movie Studios, tho I only use Vegas. I found mine at Target, actually. I'm looking at the box, and to be honest, it doesn't say what version it is! It's an orange box with a blonde woman on the cover, holding a video camera. It says "Vegas Movie Studio - video editing and DVD creation software" The version i have works fine, and seems to be able to do what Aislynn's Movie Studio does, so I guess it's 'the right one'. It should work for you too, and I find that it's usually one of the first ones that comes up when you search for it on Amazon. I prefer Vegas, but I think that this is a decent version to use and you can make great videos with it for a low price (about $80). _________________

Hey, Cameron! Like Sassy mentioned, I use Vegas Movie Studio 6 and I love it. I'm not really sure what differences there are between 6 and 8, though, sorry. I do know that Platinum versions come with an extra audio editing program (mine is just the "regular" version, not Platinum). I think pretty much all of the Movie Studios come with +DVD, which is a DVD authoring program. I haven't ever used mine just because I haven't had a need to make a DVD but I'm glad to have it in case I ever want it, lol! (For example, if you ever want to watch your vids on a TV with a regular DVD player, you have to "author" the DVD for it to be able to do that. )
I would think pretty much if you go by your own budget and what you can afford comfortably, you should be (hopefully! ) very happy with any of them. The core editing component is probably very similar between all of the Movie Studios (which is, in itself, fairly similar to the full version of Vegas, just missing a few extra bells and whistles). |

Thank you for the help and advice, both of you!
If I look around for Movie Studio 6 (or in a orange box) I should be fine.
Thanks for explaining the + DVD/Platinum thing for me, because that was what got me confused in the first place
I'll be saving my pennies and buying my copy soon! |
