Hey all
Im making this vid and Im not sure how to do what I want to do, but ive seen it done before so ill try to explain it. How do I cover what's written on say, a letter and write my own thing over the top. For example; this footage of kate. i want to write over the letter
Kate
Claire and Carol were in a car accident.
Claire’s fine; but Carol won’t be.
-Lindsey
and ive seen it done without photoshopping a still picture and thats what id love to do if someone could do it for me or tell me how id be so grateful!!! and if someone can do it and the letter is too long and wont fit, feel free to edit it as long as the point of the letter comes across _________________

Yup, thats what i wanted. but is there a way you can have that througout the clip? like, keep the clip going with that on the paper? if not, thats cool. i use that just fine _________________

ok, i want to use the footage that I put up earlier of Kate in a video and i want the text to be on the letter as the clip goes on; not as a still photo. so it looks like kate is reading my msg on the letter...better? _________________

I'd say either use the cookie cutter or mask to get Becca's letter on top of the actual clip, but for masking, I'd say ask dayln03--she's really good at it; she taught me but I don't know how to explain it _________________ avatar: Plastic!Winchester Theater by anteka @ LJ; icon by me

What's going to be tricky about this is if you watch the original writing on the letter, it changes perspective drastically as the clip moves (beginning to slant as the camera's angle on the page changes). It'll be really difficult to match that change convincingly with new writing (I dare say it'll be pretty darn impossible, in my humble opinion ).
What I would do, if it were me, would be to use the still pic and maybe do a bit of a soft zoom in on it (nothing big and showy, just something to give the pic a bit of motion), then cut to the letter in Kate's hand after it's already at a hard angle (so you can no longer tell that your writing isn't what's on the page) and follow the pan up to Kate crying. That'll help sell the idea without trying to match moving perspectives.
