And he knows his life is changing
It's never easy letting go
For the first time you are mortal
As the child before you grows
And he wonders at the sight
Of the joy that he has found
Even closer than this life
Closer than your faith
Closer than the things that you hold dearly
And in vain
Closer than this life
Falling through again
Giving more than anything
That you could hope to win
Better than Ezra-Closer _________________ It’s been a long year

10, simply because it's so evocative.
A lyric I came up with this morning, after ANOTHER all-nighter doing nothing. Let me know what you think, as it's part of a song my band have started writing.
Six o'clock in the morning
Been up all night just doing nothing
Wish I could find a message from you
Telling me that we will be okay
We will be okay...
Works better if you've heard the first part of the verse and listen to the actual tune of it, but tell me whatcha think _________________

9 - nice! I wanna see the rest of them haha
Life inside the music box ain't easy
The mallets hit the gears are always turning
And everyone inside the mechanism
Is yearning
To get out
And sing another melody completely
So different from the one they're always singing
I close my eyes and think that i have found me
But then i feel mortality surround me
I want to sing another melody
So different from the one i always sing
Cause it's a bittersweet symphony this life.
Trying to make ends meet, trying to find somebody then you die.
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down...
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah.

LOL that's... that's just too good to give a rating to .
How I wish I could walk through
the doors of my mind
Hold memory close at hand
Help me understand the years
How I wish I could
Choose between Heaven and Hell
How I wish I would save my soul
I'm so cold from fear

Ahh, James Blunt. I totally loved his music at one point. 9.
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools," said I, "you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
-The Sound of Silence, Simon and Garfunkel

10, naturally
I just like Blunt's lyrics haha. His songs have fast made it out of any of my main playlists. But they still have a place in history lol.
There is no escape
From the slave catcher’s songs
For all of the loved ones gone
Forever’s not so long
And in your soul
They poked a million holes
But you never let them show
Come on its time to go

Definitely a 9 to 10 I looove How It Ends and it's dark, yet poetic lyrics
I've also been a fan of Sarah McLachlan's music. Her songs usually have some really wonderful lyrics, too:
We all begin with good intent
Love was raw and young
We believed that we could change ourselves
THe past could be undone
But we carry on our backs the burden
Time always reveals
In the lonely light of morning
In the wound that would not heal
It's the bitter taste of losing everything
That I've held so dear.
I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...
Knocked off your wall you're tumbling
Next thing your world starts crumbling
Down you're spinning
Hit the jackpot, no one's winning
It's such a shame that you blame yourself
For things you cannot help
How many questions?
How many times does it take for you to understand?
All the times we meet, a little piece of me breaks
Give a little
Take a little time to show
your love is all I ask of you
So won't you give it to me?
Then I will give you my love, girl, it's all I can give
One of my favorites;
Dumpty Humpty - Blake Lewis (i'm obsessed.)
