Jen. YES!

I was another one to see the midnight showing. I had to be up for work at 6:30 AM but let me TELL YOU. It was VERY worth losing the sleep for!

Luna was perfect, Umbridge was played brilliantly, and every single actor in the movie did a fantastic job. I'm with you on the spoiler you revealed, that did suck. I was a little disappointed what happened with Fred and George too, how they left. It should've been more exciting.

That makes me ask: What the heck were they thinking by axing Peeves through the whole series of the film! Peeves is only the best Poltergeist (sp?) out there and of course the line that Fred and George give in the 5th book "Give her hell for us Peeves" just adds more. I was a little disappointed at the absence of the house elves, two in particular, but was ecstatic to see Kreacher! And just how I pictured him too!

I will admit it right now. I'm a 22 year old, fixing to be 23 soon and I bawled in two different areas of the movie last night. Not gonna say what parts, but I absolutely howled, and it just goes to show you how powerful this movie actually is. It makes you scream with laughter, it makes you wince, it makes you cry, and it does take you into the story with it.

This is the first movie directed by David Yates that I've seen, and I absolutely loved his directing. He did such an excellent job.

Oh and HOLY SNAP how about that kiss?! I swooned. Dan and Harry grew up. Boy if I were 4 or 5 years younger.

Im sooo tired from last night!!! I really really liked it! It flowed much better than i thought it would. Though i did think they rushed the beginning and the end. Yates is the best director! He made the movie ACCUALLY feel like a movie, not just an assortment of scenes from the book **COUGH*** GOBLETOFFIRE***COUGH**** Daniel Radcliff is really becomming quite an actor. He felt sooo much more real and relaxed in this film. But i sware every time he had that dream he looked like he was having an orgasim!!! I wish though allot of the other characters were in it more. Alan Rickman and Robbie Colrine had barley any screen time. The Vail was awsome though, its one time where the movie supprassed my interpratations. Only thing i didnt like was the happy go lucky ending! Its like "YAYAYA VOLDEMORTS BACK!WERE GOING ON A TRAIN! YAYYYY!!!" They BETTER not do an ending like that with Half- Blood Prince
Spoiler:

with dumbledors death and all

but all in all i really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the movie... Luna was just PERFECT! I loved her before, but now i love her even more! Umbridge was good... but didn't surprise me. What really surprised me was Grawp! I thought he was pretty boring in the book, but he was so cute n the movie!
I didn't really like the begginig though... was too fast, Dudley is not a good actor, and there was no howller for Petunia... i thought that was important...
Anyway, I liked it! But I need to watch again... I didn't get in the story so much... I just kept thinking that a lot of stuff were missing (or wrong), and i want to see it not thinking that...

ust got home from seeing it (not in IMAX tho ) and I thought it was great! David Yates did a wonderful job IMO (as did the other directors of the previous films of course) but I loved this one the most cause OotP was my fav outta all the books (well so far). Fred and George's famous departure from Hogwarts was awesome, I too am so glad that they didn't cut that from the movie. And yeah, it would've been so much cooler if they left in the "Give her hell for us Peeves" line but it was still cool without it too IMO.

I didn't expect the kiss scene to last as long as it did. They were full on macking. LOL. It was cute tho. I think the reason they had Cho rat on Harry and the rest of the DA was to maybe make it easier to get rid of her for the whole Harry/Ginny thing in the next movie. I mean Marietta or whatever was not really an important character in the book. She was just Cho's little friend who Cho dragged to the DA meetings with her. Why pay another actress for such a meesly little role. I liked that they made Cho the one who betrays Harry and the DA. It really wasn't a problem for me seeing as I never really liked the character anyway. lol.

Loved the scenes with Gwarp, tho I pictured him to be more bigger and mean looking in the book. Haha ... how cute was it when he gave Hermione those bicycle handlebars with the bell? Also I liked how Harry wasn't such a whiny little jerk like he was in the first half of the book. He REALLY got on my nerves in the book.

The girl they got to play Luna was sooooo cute and she looked and sounded EXACTLY like I pictured her. Great casting there.

The only thing that kinda sucked for me was how little screen time Lupin had. I mean, he was pretty much in the entire book (well probably just as much as Sirius was anyway) and what'd he get in the movie? 2 meesly little scenes. He wasn't even there at the beginning when some of the Order came to pick up Harry from Privet Drive. Draco barely had any scenes either. I dunno ... it was just a bit disappointing for me.

I was also waiting for the part when Umbridge ran Hagrid outta his hut and off the school grounds after Dumbledore left.. And when McGonagall gets stunned with 4 stunning spells to the chest. I would've loved to have seen those scenes in there but I know, I know .... the movie has to be cut down. Still sucks they weren't in there tho.

And I almost, ALMOST cried when Sirius got Avada Kedavraed into the archway. And Lupin holding Harry back while he screams and cries .... that was just like the saddest thing ever. I knew it was coming tho so I was pretty prepared for it. I found it to be much more emotional and sad then it was in the book, for me it was anyway. I didn't quite understand how exactly he died when I first read the book. I mean I kinda had the general idea but it was still a little confusing to me. But Yates did a great job with the scene, and Sirius will be missed.

OMG the big fight against the DA/Death Eaters/Order near the end was just awesome! But the Dumbledore vs. Voldy was even more awesome!
Just the camera angles and the effects was brilliant. Again ... David Yates did an amazing job. I hope he does Half Blood Prince too cause he would totally do it justice like he did with this one.

So yeah ... I really, really enjoyed it and I already can't wait to see it again. It got me all pumped up for Deathly Hallows next week. Can't wait!!!

I just got back from watching it for a second time with my Mom. She hasn't read the books, only watched the movies and she loved it which goes to show that most of those that only follow the movies will be capable of understanding what's going on. It just depends on who's directing and what direction they decide to take with the film.

****SPOILERS****

Disappointments

Dobby. This actually is not David Yates fault. This is the fault of the director of Goblet of Fire. It would've taken more time to re-introduce Dobby in the 5th movie, so he was scrapped again. I would've liked to see Dobby revealing the Room of Requirement to Harry, but that's alright.

The Fountain. The fountain in the Ministry of Magic had meaning, and the meaning was shown in the book as how the Wizarding world looks upon the other creatures and how the Wizarding community perceived the way that creatures viewed them. I was pleased to see though, that the fountain was actually in the movie. At least it wasn't left out entirely.

McGonagall, Hagrid and Umbridge. I was disappointed not only in the lack of this scene, but I was also disappointed to see that not more of the O.W.L.s were shown. The fight takes place during the Astronomy exam and with the way they were transitioning so quickly to the next part of the movie, I don't see why they couldn't with the O.W.L.s. We've had 3 hour movies, and honestly, I'd pay as much as they asked to go see a 3 hour version of Order of the Phoenix. It was my favorite of the series thus far.

The Prophecy. Why was Voldemort after the Prophecy? Because the Death Eater he had sent to listen in on what the Prophecy the night that Cybil Trewlany spoke it to Dumbledore himself had left right in the middle of it, and that mistake is what caused Voldemort to choose Harry. It was never revealed that a mistake is what caused Voldemort to choose Harry, because there was one other person who had the equal qualities, who could've been chosen instead: Neville. I was really disappointed that the story that this whole book revolved around, the Prophecy, was not revealed. That was by far, my biggest disappointment.

What I LOVED

The Kiss. It's kind of hard to describe a kiss in a book without starting to turn to the pornographic side, but I loved it in the movie. It was sweet, innocent and as Harry well said, "Wet." Now that we've seen Harry's first kiss, just try to imagine how Ginny and Harry will kiss in the 6th movie. I don't think that the movie will go to the R rating, but it will probably stay in the PG 13 area, lol.

Fred and Geoge. What an excellent way to leave, and the fireworks were just the way I imagined them from the book, especially the tiny ones that exploded near your face. Such cute little fireworks! But the best part of all was the complete dismantling of all the decrees that had been on the wall.

Dumbledore's Army. The teachings inside the Room of Requirement were excellently played out in the movie. I loved seeing the Patronuses that were invoked and even how one knocked Neville over.

The Hall of Prophecies. Just like how I imagined from the book. Not a really extraordinary room, just millions of shelves with millions of balls on them, but with one reducto spell, it turns to complete chaos in about two seconds.

Order of the Phoenix VS Death Eaters

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME fight. It was aggressive, it was messy, it was chaotic, and as I heard the term on the A&E special, the "ninja-wandage" was terrific!

Dumbledore VS Voldemort

A PERFECT use of special effects. The fire, the water, and the almost Yoda VS The Emperor lightsaber duel, it was so thrilling to watch!

Umbridge VS Trelawny, McGonagall and Dumbledore

I'm so glad they didn't leave this scene out. I loved McGongall's line "Yes there are some things I could say to you" and the awesome opening of the doors to reveal Dumbledore as that knight that rescues Trelawny from being completely removed from the castle itself.

Sirius and Harry

Having read the books, I knew what all was going to happen and every single scene that Harry and Sirius shared was beautiful and nearly brought me to tears. From that first hug in the beginning of the movie (yes, I cried during that scene this time. I cried three times during the movie this time around) all the way to Harry's being possessed and showing the memories that he had of him and Sirius. Sirius has always been my favorite character, and that'll never change. I'm a Sirius-fangirl for life.

Transitions

The Daily Prophet transitions that Yates used in this movie were genius. It was a fast way of giving the viewers knowledge of what was going on while saving some time. Even if they left some things out, the means they used with these transitions was great.

All in all, after seeing it a second time, I feel the same as I did before. This movie was absolutely the best of out them so far. I forgive anything they might have left out because it can either be mentioned or shown in future movies, and because J.K. Rowling knows what we don't when it comes to the 7th book, so she knows what's truly important for the movies to reveal, and what is not so important. Having her opinions in this and being a good source for the screenwriter to talk to is vital for these movies. What worries me is the release of the 7th book, because with that, there's no real need to keep J.K.R. on for guidance, and that could send the last two films downhill, because then it's a matter of what the director or screenwriter feels is important. I definitely want Yates back as director, and Heyman back as screenwriter, and I pray that they do as good a job with the last two movies as they did with this one.

I cried three times during this movie, all Sirius related. This film had so much emotion just like the book. The series is getting ever darker, ever less comedic, and even more suspenseful. I look forward to the release of the 7th book, but at the same time I dread it. It puts that label of finality on it. Since the beginning of the series, we've had a new book to look foward to, and after this it will be playing the waiting game to see what the last two films will look like.

KEEP YATES KEEP YATES KEEP YATES! Keep him!

I hope to God that even with the knowledge that the 7th book will bring, that they will stay so true to the books and I think Yates is the right man for that job, him and Heyman.

You really think you can wait until december to read the book?? I just can't control myself! I waited for the translation until book 4, but the fifth and sixth ones i read in English, and I'm definitely reading in English again! And when it comes out translated i have an excuse to read it again!

And I don't think you'll be disapointed about the movie! I watched it again and I loved it even more! And there ARE really cute Ron/Hermione moments! I loved that! I really want to make a clip with those new scenes!

Yes,i'll make one too i just can't wait....
Ohhh i don't know...maybe i'm going to read it in English after all...
I'm like "Ohh i'll read it in English" and the next day "I'll wait our translation"...i'm crazy at the moment...and mad really mad because i've been waiting this moment for 6 years and now whn it comes out i don't know what to do.
My only concern about reading it in english is that there are specific words which Rowling invents and there's no possible way to understand them...i have to read the whole book with a dictionary in my hands...

I have 3 more days to decide

I went to see it with my friends Kat and Kelly on Saturday, and I have to say that on the whole, I was actually quite impressed. Despite a consistently wooden and/or completely over-acted performance from Emma Watson, Rupert Grint's understated humour was a real thunder-steal from Daniel Radcliffe's... *ahem* less than stellar performance. Highlights included the kiss between Harry and Cho - though the mistletoe thing was EXTREMELY cheesy beforehand, the kiss was really genuine, and shot beautifully - and the sequence towards the end where Harry was being 'possessed' by Voldemort, and all of the flashbacks from the other movies; possibly one of the best edited sequences I've ever seen in a movie.

Also, my new favourite actress of the Harry Potter films is, hands down, Evanna Lynch, who gave an astoundingly perfect portrayal of Luna Lovegood. I was thinking of going for the part of Luna when they were holding open auditions for the role, and although in the end I was unable to go, the scene that I'd prepared was one that I wouldn't have performed any different to how Evanna performed the part.

So... there ya have it!

Yes!I finally saw it!And i can say that i really enjoy it
The things i like:

The Battle in the end was really great!I liked the the bit when Harry was fighting Voldemort and he was remembering the time he spent with Hermione and Ron

Very cute moments between Ron and Hermione )) In almost every scene you can see how they exchange looks and how he's really protective of her

The DA scenes were really cool

The Hall of Prophecies was exactly what i thought is going to be!

Fred and George were great too!

There are of course things that i didn'y like but i'll not waste time to write them cause they're not soo important...

I'll deffinitely gonna watch it again!

I finally had some time to go and see the movie last night and I must say that I really enjoyed it! Much, much better than GOF (which didn't do justice to the fourth book at all, if you ask me).

The casting was, as usual, simply great! Although I would've imagined her to look differently, I loooved Luna. She was too cute for words. Imelda Staunton also did a great job playing the part of Dolores Umbridge. What an annoying old frump!

The best moments:
- Harry yelling "Look at me!!" at Dumbledore. It really gave me goose bumps!!
- Hermione and Grawp; just couldn't stop laughing
- Umbridge being taken away by the centaurs and Harry saying "I must not tell lies"
- Dumbledore and Voldemort fighting --> waaaay too short, but teh cool!!
- Ginny firing off the most amazing hexes. That girl rocks!
- Harry and Luna seeing and feeding the thestrals in the forest

Stuff I missed/disliked:
- I really missed Ron's cheekiness and humour in this movie. He's been so awfully quiet and serious through the whole movie, and also it felt like his screen time had been reduced to a minimum
- the Snape vs. Harry stuff was way too short and not intense enough, same goes for the last conversation between Dumbledore and Harry. They kept back so much important information about the prophecy
- I would've loved to see the moment with Neville and his mum. That would've been very intense and emotional, I reckon.

I can't already wait to see the sixth movie!!
Spoiler:

Harry and Ginny finally getting together!! Yay!!
And they better make a good job on the moment when Snape kills Dumbledore. That was the most intense and most shocking moment so far in all of the books.

Late post on this thread.. but I thought I'd just pop in a comment.

KajaM wrote:

I must say - I totally AGREE! Maybe its a little too much of Rupert Grint obbession on my part, but I do really feel that hes getting less and less screen time as the movies go on. It really had me wondering if they will even show..

Spoiler:

When Ron leaves Harry and Hermione in DH, during the Horcrux search

It'd never happen, I know as it was quite important. But I couldn't help but feel it.

I really missed the Neville moment too. Hes seriously under-reated. *hugs for Neville*

Another moment I really missed in OotP was Hermione's S.P.E.W crusade, I think that this is a really key point seen as JK talked about it so much and I do have a friend who only watch the films and hasn't read the books (I've TRIED making her.. they just won't see the light. I personally think its stupid because theres SO much the movies have to miss out because of the time limits, so she just dosen't understand whats going on) who will possibly be quite confused in DH when..

Spoiler:

Ron/Hermione kiss (YAY!) because he talks about the House Elves before she kisses him. They better leave that speach in there...

But enough negatives!

On the whole I thought it was a great film, and I LOVED the battle scene, Daniel Radcliffes acting on the "possesed" Harry part was awesome.
And I too loved the choice for Luna, Evanna really played her perfectly.
I also loved the little Ron/Hermione smile at christmas.. CUTE.
