Everything Changes - even LVI 
Today, March 1st 2007, LVI is being shut down for an undetermined amount of time (probably a couple weeks) to prepare for a whole new generation of video viewing codenamed "LVI 5.0". Those of you who have been with us since the days when numbers like "4.0" and "5.0" meant something will know that this is a big deal. There will be significant changes to the way LVI operates that should change everyone's experience with this site for the better.
These forums will stay open throughout the renovation, so don’t go anywhere! Likewise, our monthly contests will continue, but with some modifications.
Details will be released as the month wears on and we become closer to completing, but for now I can say one thing:
Since the beginning, LVI has been an oligarchy – a number of skilled vidders at the top deciding which videos are good and which are bad. And so it has been, until now.
With LVI 5.0 will come democracy. The power to vote will be in your hands. We hope you use it well.
This has been my 10,000th post, and hopefully an honorary beginning into the new era of LVI 5.0
We hope for your support and excitement in what this means for the future of this site!

OMG squee I'm actually here for one of the big site changes!   I missed the switch to 4.0 by like a month I think.

Same with me. I was in New Zealand during the last big change, but at least I'll be here for the big revolution!  Yay! I'm so excited!!

what does this mean for the LVI counsel I wonder.

Oh dear, I'm a tad worried about this. I don't have time to watch every vid and I rely on the CPs to help me find good ones. I know I can count on them being given for quality, not just popularity.
I'm kinda hoping the democratic voting will be in addition to the CMs stamp of approval, not in replacement of it.

Omg, this is so cool! Can't wait, I'm actually on here when the changes are happening...oohh, cool! Wonder how its gonna be when 5.0 comes into effect? I am jumpy at the thought!!
