I'm getting tired of WMM and how it freezes every two seconds, and now i'm looking for a new movie maker. How much does Vegas cost (6 or 7, I don't care)? I've heard that this is a good program. Or if there are any better programs, please state them and how much they cost.
Thanks! _________________

Right now, Amazon has Vegas Movie Studio 6.0 (the one that I'm using) for $69.99.
My best advice is to keep an eye on local stores that sell it. In my case, it was stores like CompUsa, Frys, and of course Amazon itself. I ended up getting mine last year with 2 rebates on it that brought the final price down to $10! So you never know when a bargain will pop up. Or if you can swing it, I personally think it's worth the $70 just to get away from WMM's "issues." Good luck! |

Here's what I would do, check how much RAM and how much hard drive space you have. That's a good place to start, IMO.
To check the RAM:
Click Start - right-click My Computer - click Properties
Somewhere in all of the info it will show you, it'll say something like 512 MB of RAM. Hopefully it won't be lower than that! Depending on how new your laptop is, it might even have 1 GB. The more RAM the better!
To check the available hard drive space:
Click Start - click My Computer - right-click whichever drive is your main hard drive, usually it's C: - click Properties
A chart should come up, showing how much used space, free space and total capacity you have. Again, the larger the free space and the bigger the total capacity, the better. Vegas Movie Studio asks for 200 MB free hard drive space for installation but you'll need a lot more than that to be able to actually work with it.
Once you know those two things, you should have an idea of whether your laptop has the ability and space left to run Vegas. You can also download a free trial of either Vegas or Vegas Movie Studio to see if your computer will be able to run it okay (though I really recommend knowing how much RAM and hard drive space you have first -- if you don't meet the minimum requirements, then taking the free trial won't do you much good, you know? ).
Hope that helps a little! |

Thank you for all the help, Aislynn! My brother is telling me not to install a new video player at all, so I may have to deal with WMM for a while, or at least until we work something out. But thanks for your time and all that information! _________________
