Yeah, I think it's unfair for some countries to let a jury decide which song they're going to send. But I also believe that these girls have a chance of winning
Even though I might not like it, Russia has a lot of countries that will vote for them (back to the political part) and this song will do good in those countries.
But I have to say that Dima Bilan (Never let you go - it's been vidded, right?) was really, really great last year. His song played all the time on the radio over here.

Well, you might be right about the "political thing" in voting for Russia, just because there many countries from ex- Soviet Union, and we all like..I dont know how to say right - like brother and sisters contries - Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazahstan, Tadjikistan...and some other countries that are our neighbours, and our cultures are not very different - like Litva, Latvia, Poland..I think of course preferences from this countries will be on Russian side, and I know Russians usually voting for this countries too...but on the other hand two years ago we got if I don't mistake like 11 place or smth like that, so it depends on singer and song as well I think

and yeah, it was Dima Bilan who won second place last year, he was like our hero lol..when this song (never let you go) came out I was really like it, but now it's just everywhere (TV, advertising, radio, just EVERYWHERE lol) so I really can't listening it already...btw you know that he will probably leave Russia for some USA projects, as far as I know he already have song with Timbaland, and he have some parleys with Nelly Furtado agents..it happens mostly because he have one very rich producer though

Yeah, you're totally right about Russia's "friends" in Europe that will vote for them for different reasons. But I also believe that they will be given points from other countries aswell, because the song isn't that bad. But, I think the song will do best in eastern Europe, so that's where they'll find their voters
I think Russia will finish top 5, if not top 3.

And just a thought about the political voting aspect of ESC; I think that there should be a jury of some kind that is able to give as many points as the televoting of Europe (for ex. the jury gives out 150 points, just as the votes from Europe is worth 150 points...see where I'm going?).
I mean like, one jury member (that knows good music and knows what a winning song is) from each participating country should make this jury that sits somewhere backstage and decides how to give their points... something like that That would make it fair, and cut off this political voting I think.

In Sweden we have a jury that has the same power as the people in the final. The Swedish song contest (Melodifestivalen) is a HUGE thing over here and 60% of our population watches the final (we have 4 semi-finals too... see how big it is? ). Soo... we need a jury to get the right song and make these 4,5 million people watching happy. Or else there's always this "the wrong song won" etc...

Nice to hear about Dima! I read somewhere that he was heading for the States, but I never knew he was working with those guys! Would be totally awesome to see him in a duet with Nelly
Also great to see that the ESC is some kind of way to spread your music! Guess that's what it's all about...

Only 11 days to go until the final (8 to the semi)!
I think it's going to be great fun watching this year. I'm especially looking forward to the Israelian och Ukrainian performace this year

Anyway, I'm off to Helsinki tomorrow! Checking the city out, you know I'm going on one of those sea-cruises. Gonna be fun. So bye for now

No, I'm not kidding you - THAT is the "song" (to me, it's not even music) who everybody says is going to win tonight...

And Ukraine actually starts right before the UK so... yep, I think UK will be the big looser tonight. "bapara-bapara-barara-bapara... we're flying the..."... no. LOL
Ukraine is even worse than the UK, but the UK isn't as crazy...

Anyway, I THINK Russia will win tonight - but I'm holding my hopes up for Germany, Serbia, and Sweden.

Our entry makes me feel ashamed to leave in the UK lol. It's so aweful. I always vote for other countries and never my own.

..have we EVER won Eurovision?

I think you've won the contest like 5 times. All times during the ages when a jury decided the winner...

Anyway. I might vid Serbia's song. It's great
Still... I think Ukraine will win. It's that awful!

LMAO the aweful ones are always hilarious so I vote for them. I think it was Norway who had this middle aged man sing a folk song one time, and it was so funny I voted for him like 10 times

Yeah, it did. Well, the songs we've heard so far were all pretty lame, IMO.
