This keeps happening to me:

Quote:
phpBB : Critical Error

Could not query config information

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1226 User 'lostvide_phpBB_3' has exceeded the 'max_questions' resource (current value: 50000)

SELECT * FROM phpbb_config

Line : 214
File : common.php

It pops up when I try and click on a page in the forum (Eg. 'Fan Art') It doesnt happen all the time but sometimes it does.

I just wanted to know if this happens to anyone else?

yep.

Blame our service provider until we can find out exactly what's causing it.

This has been happening to me VERY often, in fact, I just posted about 4 messages and got that error message 3 times.

Definitely. Surprised it's not happening right now. It's been acting up these past few days.

*sigh* has it been letting up a bit lately? I usually witness it a few times when I'm on, but not as freuently as I did a few days ago.

It's actually gotten a lot better for me. But it still happens a lot during the evenings..which is quite a pain as that's when i'm on the most.. But usually it goes away after an hour or so..

according to that error message, which may or may not be true, this is caused by too many hits to the site by visitors in a day. A "hit" being every time a page is loaded or refreshed. So in other words, LVI is going down because it's popular lol

There may be a way to counteract this but... might be a bit harsh. We could restrict access to the forums to anyone who isn't signed up. This would get rid of all thsoe annonymous readers soaking up the hits. This would mean though, of course, people wouldn't be able to see a vid without signing up first, essentially making LVI a registration-required service Which I feel might be the pain-in-the-ass that causes some people to head to Lost Forums for their vidding needs or something.
On the other hand, that would mean they'd be able to comment easier though... lol

Maybe make specific fora reg-only and others guestable? I'm not sure which you'd want which, but it seems to me requests/vid help/blahblah all require people posting to one another, not just guests browsing, so restricting those to posters wouldn't (presumably) impact people any. Keeping the vid forum open while closing those obvious ones off - would that lighten the traffic load anyway?

Sorry if this has already been considered, but it was too obvious not to toss out.

I think that would actually be quite a good idea Hobbes..

I mean, most people probably wont mind registering in order to the view the videos. And if they head of to Lost Forums then you're not really losing anything, as they were never really a member in the first place..

Maybe it will get a few more people posting in the forums too, and reviewing videos. If people can't be bothered to register to the community and would rather just steal the hit numbers, well that's their problem really..

That's the question, isn't it? That occured to me too, but I wonder if it would make a difference, since annonymous users probably don't do much except view vids.

Good point . I'm just reluctant because I know I myself am always suspicious of any site that requires me to sign up to get in. Could mean some people wouldn't want to sign up, even if they would have after seeing the site first, because they don't trust us enough to sign up.
