Lost Video Island

I just downloaded a movie (Life as a House) to make a video, but there's a problem. It's all in one big two hour clip.

Does anyone know why my Windows Movie Player won't break it up, or how I can fix it? I don't mind (well, obviously I'd rather not, but that's moot) if I have to break it up manually, but is there a way to then save it like that?

sorry hon i don't have that problem with WMM. The only thing I can think is that the video is in the wrong format-laura
