I just rendered my video and it's 126MBs (probably due to my high amount of video overlays). Anyway, right now I'm importing it into WMM and rendering it at 15MBs, but is there a way to do this in Vegas without having to deal with WMM?

What format did you render it into in Vegas first? If it was .AVI, that probably accounts for the big file size. If you didn't already try rendering it into .WMV in Vegas, that ought to do the trick. (When you go to render the file, there's a drop-down menu that let's you pick the file type right beneath where it asks for the file name.) 
If you DID render it into .WMV in Vegas and it came out that big... Then something else must be set up pretty high, like the quality setting. Other than that... Ummmm, is it a very long vid?  Length is the other thing that causes the file size to go up. And you're correct, the more effects and such, the bigger the file size goes as well. But even as effects' intensive as some of my vids are, I usually never have a size larger than 10 - 15 MB by rendering into .WMV with the default settings for quality, etc. |

It's about four minutes in length and it's a .WMV. If you want to see the video, it's HERE. I imported it into WMM and saved it at 55MBs and the quality sucks now. So I'm trying to find a balance somewhere or a streaming host that will allow me to upload the high quality version.

I used to have this same trouble with Vegas too, especially if the project had lots of layers. Along with what Aislynn said, also make sure that your resolution isn't too big. Most online video upload sites have a standard of around width=425 and height=355, so keeping the video resolution down can help with the file size.

Damn I give up. Tried to render a vid in almost 2 hours now.
Saved it in WMV format.
Project settings for the video: 320x240.
Takes forever....
Ughhh...is there no other way around this?

Oh, that's so frustrating!  Does it do that for every vid you try to render or is it just this particular one that's taking hours?
Hmmm, trying to think of a few things in general that can slow rendering down besides it not being WMV and being larger than 320x240... Your computer's RAM can play a part in that. Do you happen to know how much you have? If your computer's a few years old, it might not have quite as much oomph as it might need. Also it might help to close all other programs when you're trying to render, sometimes that will free up some RAM to help it go faster.
I would imagine if this was a 10 minute long vid you would've already said that but it bears mentioning that overall length can make it take longer to render. However, short of it really seriously being near 10 minutes, then it shouldn't probably make it take hours... 
You might try a "test render" of something else. Maybe just take a straight-up clip that's a minute long or so and see how long it takes to render it without effects or transitions or the like. It shouldn't take much more than 4 or 6 minutes at the most, I'd think, just to render a single video timeline without effects and such (it should take less than that but you never know).
Anyway, hopefully we can help you get this figured out! |

Okay funny things have happend lol but I just needed to restart the program. Before when it started rendering the vid didn't even show up in the preview window. So this might also have to do with that I'm a windows Vista user and we all know Vista is.....I'll just stay with retarded but good looking xD
