I found this site very informative...informative, big word. 
For the US: http://www.copyright.gov/
and believe it or not, the laws state that you do not have to make money off of it for it to be considered copyright infringement. It's still illegal, no matter how you dress it up. 
I know, that's so stupid. Like everyone is saying its free advertising. As long as someone isn't claiming its their own then why should it be a problem. Its a shame, fanvidders are just that...FANvidders. |

I guess that's for the UK then too  The law can suck I mean, like capital punishment-they don't have that in the UK anymore but I strongly disagree with it. :@ I think the people that make Sony Vegas and stuff would recieve alot less money if it wasn't for fan vidders (who don't illegally download it and stuff anyway.....) I mean, it's not like anyone would actually believe we own the song

Yeah, I have BOUGHT loads of stuff that I have discovered from fanvids. Placebo are my favourite band now, I have 3 CDs. I saw ONE fanvid with them in and became obsessed.
I also discover LOTS of new songs from fanvids that I love and then I do some research on the singer or band and perhaps buy the CD *cough* Three days grace  */end cough*
Let's just say I'd have alot less music if it wasn't for fan made videos. |

Youtube erased a few days ago my entire account without a warn.....  i thought it was for uploading music videos about 24 and Bones wich are property of Fox wich is the most irritating company ever... .....i understand that they erased clips from episodes or entire episodes that were uploaded to youtube but fan videos.....?i think fan videos are good for promoting tv series or movies, and they can compare that entertainmet stuff made by fans with uploading entire episodes or movies by parts in youtube.

very good point jemmz! and there is footage of ppl telling you how to find and take drugs; how is that okay and fanvids aren't? eternal question
