Hi- i just started using Sony Vegas, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to trim the clips! Can someone please help me out before I throw my computer out the window. Thanks so much.

If not, feel free to post again and let us know what doesn't seem to be working right. (Also worth noting, if you're using Sony Vegas Movie Studio instead of the full version of Sony Vegas, clip-trimming works just a little bit differently.

Glad you figured it out! I'm using Movie Studio, too, by the way!

The main difference is that you can't name sub-clips, which I should've mentioned the first time, sorry!

I hate to necro on my first post but I am also haveing the problem of not being able to trim my clips on movie studio 9 all help is much appreciated

Hey there, bld! What sort of problem are you having trimming clips? Is it that you can't get them to open in the trimmer or is it a problem getting them from the trimmer back onto the timeline?

Polarbear's Vegas Tutorial is a good place to start for the basics, though, of course, it was written for Vegas 6, so things may be a little different in Movie Studio 9.

But it might help point you in the right direction.

in the vegas tutorial it says something like "click create new clip" but i dont have that button i have the area i want selected and stuff so i dont know what to do

Yeah, that's one of the differences between the full version and the Movie Studio version of Vegas.

Here's how it works in my version 6, it may be different in 9 but hopefully the same basic idea still works!
