Just read this and thought I'd post it here in case anybody else was interested in it.

Jack tore the article out of the April 5, 2007 edition of the Los Angeles Times. (The events on the island took place on Dec. 23, 2004.)
Freezing the frame a couple of times and interpolating a few missing letters yields some of the text. According to rumors circulating on the Web, this is the entire article:
"The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 a.m. in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue. Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft. Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room. According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son. Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."
Doesn't exactly clear things up, does it? (Note that "Hoffs-Drawlar" is an anagram for "flash forward.") At least we'll have a puzzle to wrestle with all summer. |

Obviously when it says "one teenaged son" that makes you think the body in the coffin is Michael. BUT that doesn't mean that one of the others (or, uh, one of the Others ) doesn't have a teenaged son we just haven't heard about yet or that they adopted at some point after they were rescued. Hmmmmmm... *ponders*
The most interesting thing to me is the date on the article: April 5, 2007. So, that means that the Losties are going to "catch up" with the real world before the show is done... Cool! Also gives us a time frame for how far forward the flash was, just over 2 years. |

Yeah it could be Michael and they could've changed their names after they got rescued (don't want the publicity etc)
Or it could be Locke.. eventhough his surname is LOCKE. Not Lantham. But like Michael, he could've changed it.
Quite the mystery. I was all "It's LOCKE!" and now I'm thinking it's Michael.

| Even when people said that the name on the obit had the first letter of J, I was thinking that it is just a prop, and that any actual clues wouldn't be seen on it. So yeah, I'm going to take the cynical route and say I don't think it means anything. |

Hehe, I freeze framed that thing like a million bloody times. I thought it said something about A body found somewhere downtown but I never saw all that!  
I still think it could be Sawyer! Sorry Ais!
I thought that made the most sense. Why Jack was upset by it. Why he thought Kate would be there. Why Kate's reaction was what it was. I'm thinking she may even have done it!
Guess we'll just have to wait and see...... |

Unless Sawyer got a LOT shorter, I can't see how they would've fit him in that coffin, lol!  And unless Kate did kill him, there's NO way she would've had that scoff "Why would I even WANT to go?" reaction. I, uh, hope the Jaters have noticed that Kate WAS NOT with Jack in this flashforward. He had a lot of trouble even getting her on the phone AND she didn't exactly leave him at the end with a "See you back at home!" sort of thing, either...
*whistles innocently* Actually, I really, seriously, sincerely believe that, when all is said and done, the Powers That Be won't put Kate with either Jack or Sawyer. I think they're gonna thumb their noses at BOTH of our ships. [/end jaded moment]

Yeah, we realised  The on-island stuff makes up for it kinda, but honestly like Skate/Jate are gonna be together after rescue anyways. I'll even admit that! It's not realistic. Kate is a murderer so.. ya know, Prison/running/parole *coughmytheorycough* etc.

I never really noticed the size of the coffin! I thought it was just average coffin size, whatever that is!
And you Skaters do realise that she probably isn't with Sawyer right?
As much as the Jater in me would love Jack and Kate to live happily ever after, I have always had a sneaking suspicion that she'd end up with neither of them. And it certainly looks that way at the moment... |

wow i was freezing that scene millions of times even on my tv to see what it said and my mom got pissed because of how many times i was pausing
yeah all of us would probably and reading ausellio's stuff yesterdays and he says that the 'he' Kate is reffering to he thinks its someone we don't know. But hey thats what he thinks because there's not alot of spoilers around at the moment.
I think we'll find out who that 'he' is if Kate gets a flash-forward |

Could be sawyer. we know he has one illegitimate child. Although that one is too young, it is possible he has another. Then the fake name would also fit. Hooowever i don't think so.
Michael? very possible. very very possible.
or the alternative? another character they meet later on? still got 2 more years to meet them.
