how do i get over it? |
If you just primarily vid LOST then try vidding something else for a few days. Anything else. I recommend Supernatural, Farscape or anything else that might capture your attention.
Another thing I do if Im having problems. Like say I have a song that I want to vid to but nothing in particular comes to mind. I take a whole bunch of clips and just randomly put them together. Sometimes I hit on something really fantastic that clicks with part of the song. I then make sure to replace the clips I dont like with clips I do like. I just make sure they are the same length so as not to mess up the timeline for the clip that was fantastic.
I keep a folder of just songs that I know I want to vid to. I play them every other week and then grab anything that leaps out at me.
I work on, at the very least, two videos at a time (usually three or more though). If I get stuck on one I can then work on the other. (I do the same with my writing for writers block)
Go back and re-edit or re-watch old vids. It can sometimes give you new ideas.
Try vidding a character that you can't stand. Or one that doesnt get vidded often.
Try to view your favorite character in different situations or use Alternative Universes to vid.
Im working on a Locke video so I dont get locked into my Sawyer, Skate and Jawyer vids. Im enjoying the video a lot.
I plan to vid Charlie (who I really do NOT care for) but I figure working on him might help me with my other videos.
Read fanfiction - some stories can give you ideas. Other shows and movies can give you ideas.
Most of all try NOT to stress about it. Ideas come at the weirdest times for me so I always keep a notepad handy.
Wish you the best in your endeavors

What kind of vidder's block? Halfway-through-a-video-and-can't-think-of-anything! vidders block? Or I-just-have-no-ideas!-I-am-stupid! vidders block?
If it's the former, my advice is to listen to the song again and try to think of something entirely different than what you were gonna go for just to see if you can come up with some neat new idea. Then, maybe take a break and rethink, or move to a new video for a while. Then perhaps try putting the vid on hold. Not all vids are meant to be.
As for the later - listen to some new music, watch a ton of vids, and maybe just read up on some Lost stuff . Eventually something will click and you'll go "hey, that's a really good idea! Why hasn't anyone done it yet?!". When you get that, you're ready to vid
I don't suffer from vidder's block anymore so much as I just suffer from procrastination, busyness, and occasional hatred of my work . But at least no vidder's block!
