[What follows is a comprehensive guide to fix downloading and uploading problems. Look in the section you have the problem with, and if you can't find the solution after following all steps in that section, post a reply on here with the link to the non-working link, and an explanation of what went wrong.]
PUTFILE http://www.putfile.com/
DOWNLOADING:
* Make sure that you have the latest Windows Media player and the latest Quicktime player installed.
* Make sure that you give the video enough time to load, it may take a few minutes.
* If the video still does not play, the video may be encoded with DIVX or another custom codec.
-If none of those,
1. Right click on the player, click "error details"
2. If it says "The source filter for this file could not be loaded. (Error=80040241)" then you need to reinstall windows media player 10, it has become corrupted.

Also get divx (free) from www.divx.com
Those almost always solve the problem. If not, consider turning off/down your firewall.
UPLOADING
1. .zip files will NOT work
2. must be under 10MB, and one of the listed file types
IF YOU WANT TO SAVE THE VIDEO TO YOUR COMPUTER:
Quote: | to download it directly, just click on properties on the video, and copy the source url, then paste that in the address bar. Then, it should open up to WMP. Once it's done loading, right click on the top and select File> save and there you go! the file is saved to your computer! ^^ |
RAPIDSHARE: http://rapidshare.de/
DOWNLOADING:
*disable any Download-Accelerators. After disabling this program, it should work in nearly all cases.
* If it still doesn't work, you might block our cookies, which are neccessary in order to start downloads. (unblock them)
* Keep in mind you can only download once every hour
-If the site complains about that you already downloading files or that you have already downloaded too much, but did not download anything:
1. you are using a proxy-server ( to test this, compare the IP-address of the error-message with your real internet-IP. Those will differ. ) which the server sees as you being a new user after every hit.
2. disable this proxy-server. If not, then the free download won't work (premium will, however...)
-If you are an AOL browser user:
1. AOL browsers are set up on a proxy server.
2. Switch to Firefox:http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ , or to a lesser extent, Internet Explorer (MUCH LESSER)
UPLOADING
No problems with uploading yet...
OFFSITE HOSTING:
-ANGELFIRE:http://www.angelfire.lycos.com/
1. clicking on it gets me this page:
Quote: | Angelfire does not allow direct linking
from offsite, non-Angelfire pages,
to files hosted on Angelfire.
This practice of 'remote linking' reduces
our ability to serve out the homepages
of our members quickly and efficiently. |
- right click and "save-as" on the link
2. right-click and "save as" doesn't work either! I get a 10KB sized link that doesn't play when I open it, and it downloaded really really quickly!
- Do you use a firefox browser? Default settings on firefox don't work for some reason. Switch to IE for this download (yes, I know... *shiver* ). |
