Anyone else see this documentary? It was just on movie channel, probably still is for the next month or so. I think you should all watch it if you haven't. I know it's kinda lame to say how a movie is all... inspiring and lifechanging and important and stuff but you know... it really is!  So go see it if you can. It did win an academy award after all  .
And in case you don't know what "An Inconvenient Truth" is, it's Al Gore's documentary/presentation on global warming, and what can be done against it. 1:45 minutes that just explains things in a detailed and yet slow and uncomplicated way.
It kinda bugs me I really knew none of those facts before this movie . Sad really... It kinda makes me think of history class, when you look back at a civilization like Rome, and see the underlying cracks in it that caused it all to come crashing down - that in retrospect are so clear. It makes me think that if someone else was looking at earth, that'd be what they see - the underlying cracks that we are kinda blind to, but eventually prove to be the downfall of our civilization.
Uh, yeah, big thoughts, sorry.
So, errr.... watch it! It's not really political, it's just something you should at least watch (But if you're hoping for a popcorn and candy night-at-the-movies, then this probably isn't it  ). Anyway, just watch it.  Warren says so! (did that ever hold any sway? Well hopefully it does!)

Well, I've been wanting to watch this movie for a while, but I haven't yet.
I watched Oprah a while ago and Al Gore was there and spoke about his movie and it got me so interested. I am really into this enviorment-thing, but it started way back in 2004 when The Day After Tomorrow came to the cinemas. Now that's a great movie too, makes you kinda scared.
I mean, in 20 years, the world's enviorment can change dramatically - and I will only be like 36 years at that time! I don't want my kids to grow up in a world where there's no real winter ... you know.
Al Gore was here in Stockholm like two weeks ago, and he was interviewed and stuff - and this really hit me; I wonder what the world would have looked like today, if Al had won the 2000 election? ... hmmm...
Be sure I'm gonna watch this, Warren

I was thinking the same thing But the less political this movie is, the greater chance someone will actually watch it lol, so hush. lol
That's kinda the reason nothing's being done over this in the first place. It's seen as a highly political issue. So you're either on one side or you're on the other side. Bah. |

Yeah, you're right about that. But then again, Gore may never candidate once again, isn't that so? So, no one can really say he's got political motives... am I right?
I think Bush is doing such a cr*ppy job when it comes to this. He is the most powerful man in the world (and he's certainly aware of that) and he should be the one making a change. Instead, the country that releases most CO2 (carbonoxid... or whatever name it has in english, in swedish it's koldioxid) in this world can not even sign the Kyoto-thing. That is just so wrong.
And what bothers me the most is that the people who don't release any stuff are the ones who get to suffer in the end, like, lets say people in Africa. Just imagine how hot it's gonna get, and they don't even have cars or anything (I'm not saying that not a single person in Africa has a car, but I guess you know where I'm going )
Yep, big thoughts here too  ...but I guess it's time we face the facts.

I know what you mean. And even if the changes aren't so drastic that they won't affect developed countries as much, they'll be affecting the underdeveloped nations a lot. |

I saw this last year on a school excursion. I thought it'd be really boring and hard to understand but he explains it so clearly and actually keeps it entertaining/interesting. Hopefully this movie will make a big impact on how people think about global warming etc.

My teachers have decided that we are going to do a big project that has to do with this, global warming and the enviorment. Good idea. *credit for my teachers*
And so - to introduce this big project to us, they showed "An Inconvenient Truth" to all of us students today!
It was just as good as I thought I'd be, if not better. And I must say - it really got to me. I mean, I already knew some things about this problem, but when he showed all of those numbers and charts of the temperature, and told us about it - it made sense, you know. It wasn't like watching a normal documentary with a creepy narrator that has lots of comments by scientists in it - no, this was just HIM and his own way of describing it. He also put in some own thoughts and jokes too (I loved the one about his old classmate and his geography-teacher... "Hey, has South America ever been attached to Africa?" ).
And even if I don't like the whole thing about "using" this thing in a political way, I actually liked the political part, the one about him losing the 2000 election. That's when I once again thought, "What... if... he'd won that election?". Good thing next year is an election-year. Maybe then the USA can get a president that has the same passion for this as Al.
I'm really impressed by him, because the movie really shows that he's interested in this and that he soo deeply wants to make a change.
And I think that's one of the big reasons why this movie is so good.
Everyone should watch it.
