Thoughts? Anyone else outraged that Alan Rickman didn't get nominated for best actor? And seriously, am I the only one who hated War Horse? It's about a friggin' horse.

The only movies I've seen here are The Help and Midnight in Paris. And I think Midnight in Paris deserves Best Picture but I won't be surprised if Hugo or The Help win.
I really want to see The Descendants and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy! I kind of hope Gary Oldman wins Best Actor. Personally I think he's deserved that award like a thousand times for every movie he's ever been in, but hey, that's just me. 
Honestly, I'm a little surprised Harry Potter didn't get any noms. I sort of thought it'd be like when the third Lord of the Rings came out, and they won every single Oscar they possibly could have. (Good times, good times.) And okay, I didn't think THAT would happen with Harry Potter 'cause they're just plain not as good as LotR, but come on! No nom for Alan Rickman? No nom in the Best Adapted Screenplay category?  That does surprise me.
Also kind of surprised Melancholia didn't get ANY nominations. I heard a lot of buzz about Kirsten Dunst after it came out, people thought she might get nominated. Le sigh. Oh well.

He's a fantastic actor and he deserves it so much!!!

I agree that it's not Lord of the Rings, but yes, they did a really great jobs turning the books into a really good series of films. They're not perfect, but definitely worth watching and I wish they'd get a little more appreciation.

Guh, I hated this movie! The actors are great, yes they are, but to me the movie itself was an experimental pile of nonesense

Turns out the site I checked didnt give a full list :/ HP got nominated for best special effects, best art direction and best make-up.

This is the first year I haven't seen any of the movies nominated, except for Harry Potter and The Muppets. That hasn't happened since I was a kid!

Ooh, Julia, you must see The Help and Midnight in Paris. They're the only ones I've actually seen, but I assure you they're both wonderful!
