In the next few days (most likely tomorrow night) LVI will undergo yet another transition in our continuing struggle to keep our site's format running on the limited bandwidth we have.
The torrent trial (not trail) was a success and has proven to me that torrents will work for LVI.
LVI 3.0 will be completly torrent driven. No more direct-downloads of LVI hosted vids will be offered. EVERY vid we used to host will now have it's very own torrent. We would like you, our loyal fans (haha) to seed as many of these torrents as you can. Not all of them obviously, but maybe you could just seed your favorite(s). We are hoping that vidders will at least seed their own vids. Newly released vids should be popular enough to go very fast while also using a minimal amount of our bandwidth. Less popular vids may download slower but our server will seed every last one so they should never completly die off.
This format will replace the vidder collection torrents since we want to concentrate all torrent-power in one place. The MASTER torrents will probably still be avaliable.
Feel free to comment on these upcoming changes! 3.0 is comming! _________________

Sarcasm much? Don't be such a know-it-all, Big E. I'll figure it out eventually I suppose. I did read a rather lengthy torrent info page a while ago and that's when I unblocked those ports in my firewall - seemed to work rather slowly before that, and after there was no change in the timeliness of the downloads and now it won't connect at all. So if it worked before - why doesn't it work now?
And yeah, I see your links. I'll be off somewhere reading. |

Our main concern is and has been bandwidth. After running through all of our options this seems to be the only way we can keep LVI running. Otherwise we were looking at having to go offline at the end of the month due to excedding our bandwidth. We're nearly there now and it's only March 21st. We realize that there are going to be some problems and kinks to work out at first so we'll be around to help anyway we can. I just can't stand to see LVI join the ranks of so many other sites that can't stay online because of bandwidth issues. I may own this site but it wouldn't exist without all the talented vidders out there or the incredible group of people I have working on the council. And I don't want for anyone to miss out on all the talent by us being taken offline. I was skeptical of this at first too but Enchirito convinced me of its benefits to us and after really looking at it I realized it could work. I have an incredible amount of faith and trust in Enchirito so I promise all of you that once it's fully operational you'll love it.
Please don't hesitate to ask us questions or voice your concerns. We use what you guys tell us to make our decisions so by telling us what you think you're giving us basis to build our ideas from. _________________

I totally agree lostcalier. I was just being difficult old me. You need me! This is like training. I'm annoying complainer #37 and you have to figure out how to appease me! Make it happen people! |

So, are we going to be able to download individual videos, or only a group of videos that are done by a certain vidder. Is it still going to be basically set up the same with the video sections or what?? |

The main site will look exactly the same. The only difference is the Download links will be links to the torrents instead of the zip files. So you never really have to look at the /torrents if you don't want to.
I think after the single-vid torrents are up we should take down the vidder collections to put all the focus on the single torrents. If you want to get a lot at once, I think we will also put up both of the MASTER torrents that Hobbes put together. _________________

You would make a horrible computer geek you know that?
Seeding just means that after you have connected to the torrent and successfully downloaded the entire file, you leave your BitTorrent client running to upload to others. Since you are uploading the whole file you are concidered a seed. As long as there is 1 seed, anyone who connects to the torrent will eventualy be able to successfuly finish the download.

This is good news for all of us and LVI. I still don't understand how it all works or how I become a "seed" if I am not actively downloading the file.
I would like to help (when I am not actively downloading game patches). _________________

You download the file, and when it's done (or past 100%) then the little thing that says "Upload Rate" goes, and suddenly the file is coming from YOUR computer to others who want the file. |
