LOL, This is kind of a dumb question...Probably no one else has an issue with it...

Well, I have the hardest time (when submitting a video) to get a picture to be a small enough file. How does one condense a picture file to 20kb without making it uber-small or pixely?

well; a lot of us make our own vid pics. So rather than re-sizing a picture, we make it in a photoshop program and we just make it the right size. I'm not sure how else to do it to be honest!

Hi!

Well, the picture only has to be 201x113, which is fairly small. Also, when you save your picture after editing it, change the compression until it gets it to a smaller file size.

Like both Kat and Heather said, I always start by making the pic 201x113 instead of planning on resizing it later, that seems to give it much better quality.

Sometimes after I save it as a .jpg, though, it still shows that it's too big for the 20kb limit.

But I've found that if I close my original, then open the .jpg and save it again as a .jpg (without making any other changes), that's enough to get it under the limit.

here's a tip, if u have Photoshop, go to File>Save for Web and Devices and select "JPEG High" or "JPEG Medium" from the pulldown menu, that'll compress it below 20K most of the time without losing alot of info as you would going thru the "Save As..." way. As for the size, i like the crop tool, with typing the exact settings in the width and height and then cropping it, works for me.
