I know Deia already made an awesome one, it's on youtube. And I was planning on making one for a while. it'd be super easy, cuz you wouldn't need a story. Just some cool effects and a happy song and it'd totally work.

So I have an idea. I was gonna put it in the request section, but I figured there were so many possibilities it could work for a contest.

So our losties are pretty famous now and have been a couple different movies. Perhaps we can have a cross-over contest with a Lost/Losties in the movies concept.

Like 815 goes down- but Jack was not on the plane and has to deal with the after math of losing people he loves (a la We Are Marshal).

A cool Sawyer/Whisper crossover would great.

What about a Walt/You got served/Antwone Fisher story?

A Shannon The Fog/Lost Cross over

Locke/Alias? (Old School maybe?)

Jin/Crash/Spiderman 2?

Claire/Rosewell/Brick/Hills Have eyes?

Sayid/The English Patient

Eko/The Mummy Returns?

Michael/The Matrix?

The possibilities are endless!

that is a great idea Yael cos they all have been in other movies. but i think nikki's right; finding clip would be difficult. especially enough to make a video. Perhaps it could just be the trailer of the movie they actor was in with Lost clips? trailer are a little easier to come by

Ok, I was sitting in film studies class, learning about the wonders of silent films ... ... and got this idea! It may be boring to some people, but I think it'd be interesting, new, and creative. It'd be a big challenge too, seeing as it's completely different from most contests.

What if you told a story (either canon or AU) in the style of old silent movies? It can be about the classic love triangle between Skate/Jate or you can weave a tale of the unrequited love between Locke and Ben! Whatever you choose, but it has to be in the style of a silent film. It can have music of course, but no lyrics, just soundtrack style music (you can probably look up some old silent film music). Use title cards to help tell your story. If you're not sure how a silent film looks exactly, google it or look some up on YouTube.

Here are a few tips on making a silent film style movie -

Jumpy clips
Grainy texture (bad film quality)
Black and white
Iris (this was a dark, shadowy circle around edges of the film. You can do this on Sony Vegas)
Fade in to new scenes at varying speeds, depending on what will be happening in the opening of that scene
Fade out of scenes at varying speeds depending on what's happening in this scene

Is this interesting to anyone?

Glad you like it, Trey! I know I saw at least one around here...but it was a looong time ago. I figured this was never a contest tho. I also saw one on YouTube and it was boring, but I bet if this were a contest, we would get some really great vidders trying it out.

I wasn't sure if people would think it was really boring or dumb...personally, I'm not a huge silent movies fan, but I thought it'd make an interesting contest.

I don't particularly like Silent Films... but I think I could work with that. That could be fun.

I've never attempted a contest before... but if that one were offered I think I'd go for it. Or if there was a comedy contest... and I guess the reason for that is kind of obvious...

April is coming up!!! April Fools, practical jokes, laughter, humor!!!! Just a thought... I know humor has been done before... but then again, so has opening credits!!!

Either one works for me though. I love the Silent vids idea and comedy. So, if either of those is a go then I'm gonna try to submit something. Who would have thought?!?!?!

So Here's another crazy idea for a contest: "LOST for beginners"

I've been noticing a lot of guest users on this site lately. There are always lots of lurkers during a hiatus. I think now is the best time to attract new vidders to open their WMM, download Sony Vegas, download some clips and start vidding!

Maybe we can have a contest specially created for newbie vidders. Their vid could be anything they desire. I also think it would be nice to make it a point to have council members and other regulars really make an effort to help the newbs, especially when it comes to technical help and getting clips.

We could simply get a bunch of mediocre vids, but I think in the long run this contest could be much more rewarding for everyone on the site.

Yeah, but then only newbie's could enter. lol I'm so selfish. That's kind of a cool idea, Yael. It'd be nice to help the new vidders to the site, cuz there really have been a lot of new people.

I still like the idea of a contest about vidding for a flashback character. It could be about their relationship with a main character or a new ship you make up, but it has to center around/be from the POV of the fb character. I mean people like Liam, Christian, Cassidy, Nadia, Helen, Widmore, Jae (be creative! The list goes on, people!)...characters that have been around a few episodes and you want to vid. Even if the vid is only about 2 minutes, that should be fine. I think it would be a challenge, more than some of our other contests, and would definitely bring in a bunch of new and interesting videos to LVI. No more triangle vids, or just vids for Sawyer or Kate or Jack, or poor Charlie tributes (not that those are bad!). My point is, we could have all kinds of cool stuff going on. Someone needs to get a Liam/Claire trend going! I always wanted them to meet. Or more Christian/Ana, or just plain old character studies to a good song. I think we're being too easy on ourselves with all these Skjate/main main character vids (and I'm speaking to myself as well). We need some new ideas.

Yay, I'm half-newbie. I like the idea, but for people who aren't newbies they can try to make vids on programs like WMM. Like I do.
