Hey, I am not to be blamed for the S&M influences. That's the show's fault.
And thank you, again, for betatesting and for commenting and so forth. (And you're welcome for the shoutout.)
The song will stick in your head if you don't watch out!
Lyrics, for the halibut:
Quote: | You can fake it for a while:
Bite your tongue and smile,
like every mother does her ugly child.
But it starts to leaking out,
like spittle from a cloud,
amassed resentment pelting ounce and pound.
You entertaining any doubts?
'Cause you had to know that I was fond of you
fond of Y-O-U,
though I knew you masked your disdain.
I can see the change was just too hard for us,
hard for us.
You always had to hold the reins,
but where I'm headed, you just don't know the way.
So affections fade away,
and do adults just learn to play
the most ridiculous repulsive games?
All our favored ruddy sons
and their double-barreled guns:
You better hurry, rabbit - run, run, run.
'Cause mincing you is fun,
and there's a lot of hungry hatters in this world,
set on taking it over.
But brittle thorny stems,
they break before they bend,
and neither one of us is one of them.
And the tears will never mend,
‘cause you had it in for me so long ago.
Boy, I still don't know -
I don't know why and I don't care -
well, hardly anymore.
If you'd only seen yourself hating me,
hating me,
when I'd been so much more than fair.
But then you'd have to lay those feelings bare.
One thing I know still got you scared:
You're all that cold ire,
and never once aired on a dare.
You had to know that I was fond of you,
fond of Y-O-U,
so I took your licks at the time.
A change like that is just so hard to do,
hard to do -
Don't let it whip-crack your life,
and I'll bow out from the fight.
Those old pious sisters were right:
The worst part is over,
now get back on that horse and ride. |

YAY! I love this vid, and I love all of your beat uses. Especially the zooming beats into Sawyers face.
I loved all of the torturing and fightting scenes, and great clip use. I am happy to see a Sayid and Sawyer vid! Thanks for the thanks at the end!! _________________ Jin is lost in Sunlation forever..

Correct. All done in WMM. I was going to soften them in Vegas, but that seemed like too much trouble.
Kate, thanks for the beta-testing, and thanks for commenting (and you're welcome for the credits too.) Glad you liked it! _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

Very awesome vid. I enjoyed the song and the beat use. I'd love to see more vids of your with these two in the future. The fighting scenes were my fave parts btw...dunno why. Thanks for mentioning me at the end, btw. |

I think I never really saw a Sawyer/Sayid vid before and, man, I really enjoyed this a lot! It was so good to see a different kind of Sawyer vid for a change! The editing is very good and the beat use was really great this time, quite spot on! You definitely know how to use the white flashes in a good and effective way. That was absolutely the right amount of them.
Cool vid, Kate! _________________

Sassy - Thanks, and thanks for beta-ing! Glad you enjoyed it. And man, people seem to like scenes of them fighting a whole lot. Haha.
Kaja - Thanks as well! I figured it hadn't been done before (and I adore both characters), and the song seemed perfect. I tried to keep it as canonical as possible as far as the grudging friendship/respect that's built up in S3 (I wanted to not have a slash video, in other words, but some of the lyrics and some of the footage was a bit tricky in that sense.) Thanks for liking the editing and beat use, heh. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

I golded this for a reason.
Excellent job. I love the way you've utilized WMM. Obviously you've picked up some extra effects (like the split screen), but it wasn't Vegas and yet it was still awesome. I got a lot of respect for that.
Sawyer and Sayid have been great (especially at the end of season 3, LOVED their relationship at that point) together and this video goes above and beyond displaying that bond they share. Excellent work. I really enjoyed it.
And I don't think it was slashy at all, it was a great buddy vid.
Again, nice job. A+++++ and fifty gold stars! _________________ Avi by Debbie Banner by CDS1...

great vid Kate!!! You know, Sawyer and Sayid had such an intresting relationship. At first they loathed eachother, then somehow they formed a mutuial respect, which formed into somewhat of a friendship. You captured that essence nicley. Beat use and split screens were great, but just the song, i dunno its not your fault, it just seemed mushed together so i couldnt understand some of the lyrics (but luckly your cool enough to post the lyrics up so double props for you!!!) |

Freckles: Thanks! Like I said, I thought about attempting Vegas, but then when I couldn't even understand what people were trying to explain to me, figured that the headache was best saved for another day, haha.
And yeah, I do like how they've grown as a friendship through to the end of S3. I think they're very much on the same wavelength as far as 'When dangerous work needs to get done, it needs to get done,' and they both tend to be all-business when it comes time for that (obviously Sawyer is a little less successful, but, well, he was never a commando and doesn't know 37 ways to kill with a blunted putty knife. Or his feet. Haha.)
And thanks for confirming it wasn't slashy, because, like I said, I was trying to keep it as canonical as possible. Thank you as well for the gold!
Trey: Thanks! Yeah, I know the song's a little less crisp than it could be (Napster only had the album cut, which is full of Wall of Sound/Phil Spector-type effects, which accounts for the non-crystal-clear tone), but I'm glad the video was successful all the same. I don't know htat you're supposed to understand all the lyrics anyway, as the song itself is pretty... well, strangely-written. But good to know it felt right.
And yes, I do think they've had a really interesting relationship, but then again, I repeat myself. You've outlined it nicely, though.
Uruviel: Thanks as well! I figured a Sayid and Sawyer video hadn't been done before. At the very least, I'd never seen one. And they deserved one. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

That was AMAZING! Ahh does the split screen feature come with the paid version of WMM? . I love how you captured Sawyer and Sayid's friendship in an un-slashy way (I love those the moral police!), and my favourite part would have to be what went with the lyrics of "and neither one of us is one of them". Brilliant video, very unique and creative idea! |
