I know people are watching this one...some feedback would be great. I've been told this is my best vid yet, but I need to know if you guys a) like it/dislike it and b) what I could do to improve my techniques. There are some wonderfully talented people on this forum and I could use and would love advice! Thanks for your time and for viewing my video, it's an honor that you would give a few minutes of your time. |

I'm no expert on music videos, but here's my two cents.
You advertised the video as "Locke-centric". However, a good deal of the video seemed to be simply various action sequences. As much as I loved seeing Arzt explode as the chorus kicked in, it felt out of place.
Where it was Locke-centic, it was okay. Sometimes it just felt like you were using random Locke clips that had nothing to do with the song. Sometimes it felt very Locke/Boone. It didn't really have a coherent story.
The problem with this song is that it has very specific lyrics, and it is very specifically addressing a "you". You bring me to life, I'm frozen without your touch, etcetera. If you were to redo this video, I highly recommend picking a "you" for Locke to focus on. Whether it's Boone or The Island or something else entirely is up to you.
That said, this video had some cool stuff going for it. I loved that first shatter effect on Locke, for instance. And I REALLY liked the line, "leading you down into my core", where you used the slow pull back down the hatch. The long, long shot of Locke crouching on the hatch on the bridge ("frozen inside without your touch"), and then the light coming on when Amy hits that high note; very awesome.
You have a lot of potential as a vidder. Just keep working, keep brainstorming. Try to tell a story with your video.
Good luck!

Thank you so much!!! That was exactly what I was looking for, what you liked and a constructive critique of what you didn't like! Thank you!
On a side note, after thinking about what you said, I have to agree with you. There were parts that weren't Locke related and it being Locke centric, that should change. Again, thank you so much! |

I'm very glad to offer advice. I myself am utterly unable to make videos of my own, seeing as I have all the technical skills of a rock, so I must live my vidding dreams vicariously through you lot!
There's an old rule of thumb to keep relationships happy: for every criticism, five compliments. I try to review vids in that format.
