Because many vids here are only on YouTube, I need an answer to this question ^^

YouTube is going really slow, but by slow I mean really. When I want to watch a vid, it takes so long to load it. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes to watch a 3 minutes video.
Someone in my class said I should install QuickTime, and it worked! For a while, at least. When I installed Quicktime, the vids were immediately ready to play. Now it doesn't anymore, again. I tried to reinstall Quiktime again, but it's still the same.
I hate this, because I want to watch so many vids here, but I can't because it takes that long

Does anyone else has this problem or has a solution for it?

I went to YouTube and looked at their Help section. Here's the troubleshooting page. The part that's most pertinent to you, though, is probably this part:

Quote:
All of the videos on YouTube are streamed through a Flash player, so you need to have the latest version of Macromedia Flash installed on your computer. To download it, please visit Adobe.

They give the link to Adobe's site. So I'd try installing the latest version of the Flash player and see if that makes any difference. I'm presuming that you're not on dial-up (that would be the problem if you are, however -- when I was on dial-up, I almost never could successfully stream a vid in from YouTube or anybody else ).

Good luck! I hope you're able to get it fixed!

That's a very good point, Leylin! There are all sorts of nasty virus/spybots/adware/malware things out there that can mess up a computer like that! If installing the Flash player doesn't do any good (or if it says you already have it installed or something like that), you definitely want to make sure you don't have any bad beasties hiding in your computer. In fact, you want to make sure of that any way!

*hates all viruses/spybots/adware/malware*

Installing the player doesn't work. It says a movie should play above, but it doesn', so I guess it's already installed ^^

About the virus thing... Something really different... I was searching my anti-virus program, I find out I don't have any! Just the basic in Windows!

Any suggestions for such programs that are good and not slowing you pc too much at the same time ?

I haven't had much luck with the free anti-virus programs but a lot of people swear by them. There are Avast and AVG (I think it's free but I'm not sure about that ). Of course, there are the big programs like Norton and McAfee as well.

For a good, free spybot-killing program, there's Spybot - Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware who are pretty good as well. Then there are pay programs like Spysweeper that a lot of people swear by.

The important thing, though, is to cover as many bases as you can when it comes to defending your computer (though don't try to run more than one anti-virus or firewall at a time as they'll conflict with each other ). But a good combination would be an anti-virus program, a firewall (beyond the basic Windows one, which is actually just a half-wall), an adware killer and a spybot killer. Confusing, I know, but that gives you the best chance at not getting infected with something.

If you've noticed your entire computer running more slowly than normal and if you've never run a spybot/adware killing program, then you're almost certainly gummed up with malware. *thinks evil thoughts about mean hackers who create these things and sic them on innocent computer users*

Anyway, sorry not to be of more help! Hope you'll be able to get it worked out!

Aislynn's such a pro .

Exactly what she said lol. Sorry, but I'm not much more help either . Though I believe my friend had this same problem, where flash wouldn't work for him... sometimes it can just be the computer itself, where it can't read certain fdata files correctly due to some corruption of the operating system. For instance, my computer can't run MPEGs properly it just did it out of the blue, and with all the research I could do that's the best I came up with. Now when I play MPEGs, it will only play about 1 minute of it, even if the vid is longer than 1 minute, then restart. But sometimes it just happens
