So as you all probaby know, there is this new film out called Borat. Its been causing alot of problems and stuff due to the plot line and the stuff he says in it. I saw a few clips of it when he was on Friday Night With Jonathon Ross, and the stuff I saw was some of the funniest things i've seen in a long time.
Heres the trailer
So I just wanted to know what you guys thought of it really... so... talk _________________

I think it's funny and know he's just joking around. I'm gonna go see it. The stuff on YouTube is hilarious. Of course, it's hard to offend me... I think. |

LOL at last someone who thinks its funny. The news over here has been taking it seriously. I just wanna punch 'em in the bleedin' nose! It was said to offend mainly americans but i've seen the stuff and its not offensive. Only if you're like and old lady or something.
Just found trailer #2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hdl86RaQ81M&NR <-- the funnier and official one. _________________

I've only seen the trailer with him showing a tour of his home but I thought that was hilarious and don't see how it could be offensive...the part where he kisses his sister will only offend those old women who write letters to the newspaper complaining about everything. I dunno what the plot of this is though, haven't really heard that much about it here. _________________

I love the broken English in this title.
I've seen the first 4 minutes of it on Youtube, and some commercials and I highly doubt this would be offensive. Everybody else in the world makes fun of America anyway, so I don't see what's so taboo about this. _________________

The news over here is taking it the wrong way. Just cos he is the guy who played Ali G and is british, I think they are expecting America to respond badly to the things he says about it. He just makes the wrong jokes at the wrong time (I saw a clip where he did this to some femenists ). Now this isn't offensive to america! Thats just being type of David Brent character _________________

From what I've gathered... If people are offended by nude male wrestling then they shouldn't see it. I can see how it could offend people... People who can't deal with comedy that includes hating Jews or women.
Oh well, I'm gonna see it on Wednesday and I'm very excited. |

From what I see of the trailer... probably both . Doesn't really matter, does it?
Can't wait to see this. |

maybe it's funny because its offensive? I dunno. It's not my type of movie, but I'm far from offended by it. I just don't like that kind of humor usually. |

Jeez, I hear nude wrestling. But I didn't realize HOW much there was going to be. And Sacha Baron Cohen really suffers for his art. What with having a nude fat guy's balls and ass sitting on your face.
Other than that, the movie was really funny. I wasn't offended at all. And no one else in the theatre was offended. Except the 20 or so people who lef dring the nude fight. |

I'm glad I saw this movie right before I saw Stranger than Fiction, so I had something to cleanse my memory of that naked fight scene Though I did cover my eyes for most of that. That was just un-needed .
The rest though, it was hilarious. I don't think anyone could/should be offended by most of this stuff, but I can see how someone just wouldn't like this movie. These guys are jerks lol. Going places and intentionally acting in an over-the-top foreign way in order to try and get an over-the-top reaction from them. I feel sorry for so many of the people these guys screwed with . Unless I'm an idiot and that actually was all scripted... hmmm...
Anyway, nonetheless it was pretty damn funny . Pamela Anderson - that was priceless.
(P.S. I see there's no Stranger than Fiction thread. MG, your banner is right, that was a pretty good movie. I mean, I can't say I loved it, largely because the people I saw it with hated it, but I think it was a good movie regardless. |

If all it is, is offensive, then I will have to think about it..... |
