I've decided to give a tutorial on how to bulge and pinch on Vegas since I discovered it. For some of you this might be very useful. (works on trial versions too)

How To Bulge:

First we must choose a random clip to manipulate. For best effect I would use a close shot of a character.

Don't be scared by Henry just yet. Now we'll try bulge.

On the Video FX tab at the bottom of the screen, click on it and then scroll down the preset options to the bottom until you find the option 'Pinch/Punch'.

We will use Maximum Punch on Henry. Just like Sayid. Drag the preset onto the clip in the timeline and then we will figure out where to put it.

Now click on the little grey box in the center of the grid and drag it downwards (or anywhere on the grid you like).

Lets take a look and admire it. Here are some other ones that I think turned out beautifully:

But we haven't tried pinch yet. Just take a look at any one of the Pinch presets and drag it onto another clip (similar to bulge), and move the cursor somewhere around the picture (or keep it in the same place).

Although fortuantely, Vegas can handle more than one preset on the same clip, and it's no different for these. You can drag on the bulge twice and give Kate googly eyes.

And a frog mouth.

Hope this tutorial gave you something useful to work on a vid. If not, then it's a great time-wasting stress reliever when you're working on a challenging video. About bulge and pinch in motion, we may want to animate them with the clip so that they'll stay in the places we want them to. But that's for another tutorial.

The next one I might do: audio pitch/speed changes. The chipmunk tutorial.

lmao! Thanks for that. I am actually gonna use this effect in one of my vids soon although it isn't as blatant and funny as those.

They would work really great for a funny video hope you make one with them

I love that one of Sayid! He looks like he's about to turn into the Incredible Hulk or something!

Thanks so much for writing this up, DS! I linked you into the Text Guide section.
